If you are unfit and have not yet started running, a pedometer device might be the kind of thing you need to track your progress. A pedometer can be purchased for around $30 USD on Amazon, it works by attaching to your hip and measuring your step count. If you are starting out by walking, then a pedometer can help track your progress at this level. A pedometer can also be used for running and can be calibrated to your running stride length to enable it to approximate speed and distance too. While it is not as accurate as a GPS or accelerometer foot pod, if you don’t care too much about precision it can be a cheap and handy device to start out with.
On the other hand if you are doing basic running, then a Timex Ironman watch is a popular running watch that can accommodate your basic needs. The Timex Ironman watch was released back in the early 1980′s in conjunction with the Hawaii Ironman event that is held on the Island annually. The great thing about this iconic sports watch is that is has been exceptionally well designed to include the features that runners need most. At around $20-40 USD on Amazon it is the perfect cheap starter watch that will scale up to more advanced programs when you start to get fitter. The basic features of an Ironman watch include an 100-hour chronograph with lap counter and split feature, multiple lap storage and a date-stamped training log in some models. Many Ironman watches also have a countdown or interval timer allowing you to do timed repetition work.

It was only a short while ago that buying a yoga mat was a simple and non complicated process. There would maybe be two or three colors to pick from and the different colors were all the same style of mat.
Things have definitely changed, and now I continuously get asked the question – what kind of yoga mat should I buy? There are now mats for every brand and style of yoga out there, for every color preference, size preference and material preference you can imagine. In fact it is now a little confusing to find the mat that you want due to all the options out there.
To help with all the information here are a few points to look at as you consider what kind of mat you may choose.
Cost – Everyone knows what is comfortable for them, but it is handy to know that you usually get what you pay for. If you want a mat that is an irregular size, like extra long, or extra wide then you will pay a bit of a premium for it. If you select a higher quality material for your mat again you will notice the price to be a little higher then the average as well. The minimum for a mat is $10 and all the way up to $100, so there is a big range.
Traction – If you really enjoy a lot of traction in your practice you may want to chose a rubber mat. Particularly open cell rubber can give a lot of grip. There are also many mats that are textured to different likings so check it out. Keeping your mat clean also really contributes to a good grip.
Material – There is plastic, the worst of which is PVC, then there are better ones like PER and TPE. But the better materials are natural. Recycled rubber and natural cotton yoga mats can be great, non environmentally damaging options that will support you well. Usually the natural rubber is a little more expensive – but well worth it too.
Size – Thickness ranges from 1/16 for a travel mat to 1/8, which is the most common, to ¼, which is considered a thick mat. Thick is good for protection of joints and less good for stability. Length is very easy to figure out. Just chose a mat that is as long as you are or longer.
When you cannot take your bike on road for your regular bike ride, stationary bike stands are great equipment that enables you to use your bike as an indoor exercise bike. Irrespective of weather and time constrains you can keep yourself fit using a stationary bike stand. During the purchase, resistance and features of the bike stand is chosen as per your needs and exercise goals. Here are few of the important accessories for stationary bike stand that would provide a better exercise experience.
Unlike outdoor bike riding, you would sweat loads during indoor bike exercise. So it is always preferred to buy a thong sweat catcher in order to save your floor from getting dirty. Also, this would prevent your bike from getting rusted due to sweat. Some would prefer just wiping out the sweat fallen on your bike frame with towel or cloth, but that doesn’t prevent your bike frames and parts coming in contact with salts which activates rusting. The bike thongs also have pockets that enable you to keep your iPods and T.V remotes during the ride.
In order to keep your bike sturdy and provide you proper position during your exercise, make sure to use a front tire raiser block. Unless your bike is sturdy, it would add to the noise of the stationary bike stand.
Your stationary bike stand kept on a bare floor would just transfer the vibrations to the floor. In case you are you are not in ground floor, it would also disturb one in downstairs. So use a foam carpet to reduce the vibration transfers.
These three simple accessories wouldn’t cost you much but in turn would provide you a better indoor exercise experience. Even these accessories can be used on a stationary exercise bikes as well. But stationary bike stand would be lot cheaper compared to stationary bikes. Used stationary bikes would come at cheap price.
